[edit] The Prison
The prison houses up to 730 prisoners, shortly to increase to nearly 1000 with new wings being constructed. The old Officers Mess building forms the central part of an Immigration Removal Centre, dealing with the holding and subsequent deportation of illegal immigrants. It lies approximately 8 miles due east of Doncaster, three miles south from Hatfield, South Yorkshire. The old married quarters for the airmen now form a residential estate.
