Lincoln Community High School is located at 1000 Primm Road in Lincoln, Illinois. The school has 940 students for the 2005-2006 school year, down from over 1200 30 years earlier.

The school is a traditional power in boys' basketball in central Illinois. The Railsplitters have been Sectional Champions (state finalists (among the final 16)) in the state boys basketball tournament in 1929, 1951, 1955, 1969, 1970, 1973, 1978, 1980, 1999 [2], 2003 [3], 2005 [4], and 2007. Each appearance prior to 1972 was in a single-class system, each appearance from 1973 to 2007 was in the large school class in a two-class system, and beginning in 2008, Lincoln competes in class 3A in a four-class system with 4A containing the largest schools.

Floyd Bee coached the wrestling team for over 30 years managing a winning season each time. The final wrestler ever to wrestle for Floyd Bee was Wesley Allen in the state sectional in 2000. The wrestling program has continued to have a winning season each year since.

The school is a traditional doormat in football. The last winning season for the boys football team was in the 1985-86 school year [5], when the team posted a record of 5-4. The football team did qualify for the state playoffs in the 1975-76 [6] and 1984-85 [7] school years. The girls' basketball team finished second in state in 1978 and fourth in 1999.

The school has never had a state champion in sports.

Academically, the school is consistently at or close to the state average on standardized tests. It won the IHSA State Championship for the Debate Team in 2000
