Lincoln Central railway station

Lincoln Central railway station serves Lincoln in Lincolnshire, England. The building was designed in 1848 for the Great Northern Railway by J H Taylor.

There are five platforms at the station, numbered 3 to 7:

Platforms 1 and 2 were previously situated where a carpark now is.
Platforms three and four are terminating platforms for services to the east, usually to Peterborough, and occasionally to Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
Platform 5, nearest the station entrance, serves all arrivals from the west; terminating arrivals from Leicester, Nottingham and Newark North Gate alight here and depart from platform 6 while those from Sheffield alight here and depart from platform 7.
Platform 6 serves through arrivals from the east and all departures to Nottingham and Newark North Gate.
Platform 7 serves departures for Sheffield and Doncaster.
Platform 8 is still present but is no longer used.

Lincoln Central is now the only station in Lincoln, after the closure of Lincoln St. Marks in 1985.

It has had celebrities pass by. Including Hollwood actress Gwyneth Paltrow by filming scenes for the romantic drama Possessions in 2000.

Lincoln Central recently underwent a revamp, and now has ticket barriers and an excess fares office, plus new signage.
