Hi Limetom, you probably do not work on the article rewrite any more but anyway I have glimpsed it and I must say that it is not very well written. I would even say that it contains nonsenses. For example the beginning:
- The overall Loudness of a CD can not be increased. — What is the overall loudness of a CD? Despite it when there is a headroom in the recording (rare today) you can increase the loudness of a CD without any compression or clipping.
- However, by reducing the Dynamic range of the audio through the process of audio compression, the human ear can be fooled into thinking that the volume is truly louder. — Compressed and then amplified signal is truly louder so it is not any kind of fooling the human ear. You probably confused it with amplifying just the low and high frequencies which could fool the ear.
- etc.
