The Limerick Post was established in 1986 and remains the only locally owned newspaper in Limerick.
The Post is published each Thursday morning. Its owner editor is Billy Ryan with John O'Shaughnessy as acting news editor. News journalists include Marie Hobbins, Mary Earls and Pamela Duncan. The paper reports on local news and local sport in the main. There are sections in the paper covering property, motoring, classified ads, business and entertainment.

Andrew Carey, writes 3 of these pages weekly and has been compared to a young Jeremy Clarkson. The entertainment section featuring Rose Rushe on Arts and Claire Kelly carries regular columns relating to cinema, the arts, gigs listings and previews.
To keep the students opening this popular newspaper the Post recently launched a student page "Teen & Twenties". The page is written by students and covers everything from gig reviews to a Vox pop on the street.
Fashion writer Olivia O'Sullivan knows ‘what's hot’ and ‘what's not’ when she crafts her weekly examination of Limerick's renowned fashion hot spots. Her six page fashion extravaganza has become a “must see” segment for Limerick’s celebrated fashion ladies.
