[edit] College career

After emerging as a start mid-way through the 2004 season, he played in 11 games and started the last seven. He is tied for third on the UT all-time freshman list for receptions. During the 2005 season, Sweed emerged as a leader and starter for the Longhorn team. On his way to being named honorable mention All-Big 12 by the Associated Press he finished second on the team with 36 receptions for 545 yards and five touchdowns, including perhaps his most well-recognized reception, the stunning game-winning reception while falling backwards at the corner of the endzone against Ohio State University. Sweed continues his college career as a leader on the Longhorn team and was a valued contributor to the 2006 Texas Longhorn football team. Sweed has announced he will stay and not leave the team early, so he will be a part of the 2007 Texas Longhorn football team.[1]
