Founded in 1972, LIMSI (Laboratoire d'Informatique pour la Mecanique et les Sciences de l'Ingenieur - Computer Science Laboratory for Mechanics and Engineering Sciences) is a CNRS laboratory associated to Paris-VI and Paris-Sud-XI Universities. LIMSI is located in Orsay (south of Paris) on the campus of the University of Paris-Sud. It is a body of approximately 180 people: tenured researchers and professors, engineers, technicians, administrative staff, and PhD students. The laboratory occupies two buildings of the University of Paris-Sud campus in Orsay (building 508 and building 502bis). The main research topics of the laboratory are: fluid mechanics, transfers and energetics, natural language processing, speech processing, image processing, computer-mediated interface, and virtual reality.
