[edit] Plot
The Chilton guidance counselor tells Rory that she and Headmaster Charleston are concerned that Rory is not socializing enough with her classmates. Lorelai meets with Headmaster Charleston to tell him to back off, but instead he reprimands her for also not being involved enough at Chilton. She decides that both she and Rory should make more of an effort to ensure that they don't jeopardize Rory's chances of getting into Harvard.
The next day, Rory sits with a group of girls during lunch and introduces herself. Afterwards, she runs into an hysterical Paris, who informs her that she unknowingly sat down with the Puffs, the most influential secret sorority at Chilton. Paris is desperate to become a member because of her family's long history with the Puffs and the group's powerful alumni connections. The Puffs invite Rory to join their group, and Rory manages to convince them to invite Paris as well. They kidnap Rory in the middle of the night and take her and the other initiates to Chilton, where they have to ring the bell on Headmaster Charleston's desk. However, the minute Rory rings the bell, Headmaster Charleston appears. He threatens them with suspension and detention, which enrages Rory. She angrily confronts Charleston, saying that she wouldn't have joined the Puffs except that he told her to be more social. He admits that he may have judged her too hastily and agrees not to suspend her.
In order to do her part, Lorelai joins the Booster Club. The group is hosting a fashion show for their fall luncheon, and Lorelai suggests that they hold the event at the Independence Inn. However, she is horrified to learn that the women in the Booster Club are expected to be the models. She cheers up after she guilts Emily into being a model as well. Her plan backfires though when she and her mother are given matching outfits to wear.
