Ligon Middle School

Ligon GT Magnet Middle School is a middle school located in a neighborhood of Raleigh, North Carolina. The principal of the school is Scott Lyons, who reinforces the concept that Arts and Academics lead to Achievement. After each Phonemaster call, he informs us of this because he believes in this strongly. [1] The school was named as a School of Excellence at the 2006 Magnet Schools of America conference.[2] In 2001, the school won the Points of Light Foundation's National Service/Learning Leader School Award. They also won the Magnet Schools of America 2006 Secondary Award.[3]
As of 2007, the school principal is Mr. Scott Richard Lyons, who has been with Ligon since 2004. Average annual attendance is 950 students, in contrast to the district average of 850 and state average of 600. [4]
Their motto is "Academics + Arts = Achievements" and the school mascot is Little Blue. [5]
