Lightning to the Nations is a recording by Diamond Head. This is Diamond Head's first recording. The album was recorded in 1979 (after the 1978 and 1979 demos) and released in 1980.

This album has been saved from comparative obscurity (even though it was an influential recording for many bands) due to the fact that Metallica, arguably the most successful heavy metal band, have covered five of the album's tracks (The Prince, Sucking My Love, Am I Evil, It's Electric and Helpless, although Sucking My Love never received a studio recording). Am I Evil has been performed regularly at Metallica shows throughout their career. Due to the number of Metallica fans actively searching out the album, Metal Blade Records re-released it to CD in 1992.
