Light Square is one of five squares in the City of Adelaide. Located in the north-western portion of South Adelaide (the central business district), the Square is named after the city's planner, Colonel William Light. The Square is divided into two sections separated by road. In the larger southern section Colonel Light is buried beneath a monument comprising a red granite monolith topped with a surveyor's theodolite. Also in the square are a bronze statue of Catherine Helen Spence and two artistic structures.
