[edit] Plot Summary

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

This story is about a 13 year old boy named Calvin Wheeler (Kyle Massey).

He is a popular boy at school who collects comic books in his spare time. Calvin has a best friend named Raymond Figg (Mitchel Musso), who prefers to be called Figg. He saved Figg's life in the second grade when Figg had an asthma attack, and Figg, very devoted, manages his schedule and occasionally does his homework.

Gotham Man is the name of Calvin's favorite comic. His collection is complete, except for one ever-so-rare issue. When a show-dog runs after Calvin while skateboarding, he finds out that when one wins a dog show, they earn major cash. The cash prize is the amount of money Calvin needs to buy the first issue of Gotham Man.

Calvin goes to a dog rescue shelter and adopts a dog. Emily Watson (Kay Panabaker) believes that this had to be another one of the crazy schemes or plans that Calvin has in mind. So she invites them to the park and then realizes that Calvin is caring for the dog. But she hasn't find out one thing: Calvin is using the dog to get cash. One day, the dog ran away, enraging Emily to the point it was believed she would kill Calvin. Figg and Calvin come up with another plan. He makes Figg pretend he is selling magazines and fake an asthma attack. When this happens, Calvin runs into the basement and rescues the dog while Figg is still acting. Corey and Emily reunite. This is the day of the dog show and they decide to go. Calvin's dad drives them there. Ofcourse they are not prepared and can't really have Tycko compete. So he still makes into the finals and wins the cash. But instead of being a selfish person and using that money to buy a comic book he uses the money for good. He gives the money to the shelter so that the dogs can have better homes. Emily and Figg have once been actually proud of their friend in a once-in-a-lifetime chance.
