Lt. Maria "Dish" Schneider was a fictional character played by Jo Ann Pflug in the film MASH and by Karen Philipp in the first season on the spin-off TV series M*A*S*H. She was a nurse at the 4077th MASH during the Korean War.
Dish's role in the finished film was limited, as a large portion of her role didn't make the final cut. Ironically, the same thing happened to the character in the television series. After being prominently featured as Hawkeye's love interest in "M*A*S*H the Pilot," she was all but dropped from the show for the rest of the first season, before leaving the show entirely in its second.
