[edit] Thanks
Thanks for your advice. :) Seraphimblade 05:59, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Just to let you know...
I just expanded CSD A7 to cover unremarkable web content an hour ago. :) MER-C 13:20, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] K3m1xx (talk • contribs • block log)
Just a query as to why you blocked for only 31 hours? I thought it was your everyday one off vandal but the usage of hangon and the talk page at least implies a sockpuppet. –– Lid(Talk) 23:57, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
- I was tempted to indef-block but I thought that they could have a second chance. Maybe I should go with my gut instinct. If they do return to vandalise at that account again, an indef block would be in order as a vandalism-only account. (aeropagitica) 00:01, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Mike the rocker
Thanks, i've deleted it again. Can you warn this guy with {{nn-warn}} or whatever the template is for vanity articles though? Thanks. --W.marsh 02:44, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, the guy looks to just be recreating the page and doesn't seem to realize why it's getting deleted. --W.marsh 02:48, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Decline Vic Grimes + others
You declined my sprotect request on that "the vandal has been blocked" but the vandal is using AOL IPs that change depending on the pages, and those definately were not blocked as they returned a few hours later. –– Lid(Talk) 04:40, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't realize that. It's been semi-protected now. — Mets501 (talk) 10:53, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Watchmen
I noticed that you expanded the Watchmen subsection at the article development hell based on the "Project history" section I added to the film article at the time (that was a heck of a project, I tell ya). Just wanted to say that I noticed the expansion and was pleased to see a well-done job of it! Keep up the good work. --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 03:18, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Featured picture promotion!
|
- This is to let you know the Featured Picture you uploaded and/or nominated Image:Riffle shuffle.jpg is scheduled to be Picture of the day on January 10, 2007, when it will be featured on the Main Page. Congratulations! howcheng {chat} 17:42, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Agreed...
Yes I saw the Medcab "case" also. I more wantede an "official" reply from Gingko before investigating any further. However I fear that this may well be a people in glass houses... scenario and our friend may end up with the shortest straw. Thanks for your input, appreciated :) Glen 13:22, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you
I read your comments at WP:ANI. I only found out about this discussion (ANI is not currently on my watchlist) while investigating after a comment left on my talk. I meant no intimidation and I did not know the user in question was using his/her real name. (Actually I defended the user against the vandalism accusation at Talk:Schizophrenia. Thank you for doing some investigating to show I did not make false claims. --Ginkgo100 talk · e@ 14:17, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Pro wrestling article assessing now in place
In case you didn't know: Category:Unassessed Professional wrestling articles. Everyone needs to help out and assess, the idea was a good one... but I hope it doesn't end up like other projects: many pages of unassessed articles due to people not wanting to assess articles. I've started assessing, but there is much work to be done. RobJ1981 01:01, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] CM Punk
Lid, I have houseguests, will look as soon as I can. I'm not sure about a DVD as a reliable source, need to spend some time investigating ... Sandy 15:34, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Removing semi-protection
Hi. I've removed the semi-protection on your talk page. I know that vandalism of talk pages can be a problem, but it's important that users be able to be contacted by newbies with questions and concerns about things they don't understand. I hope you understand - please feel free to contact me with any questions. Phil Sandifer 19:16, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your suggestion
Sure - I'm not sure it needs an image at all, but suggest it on the relevant talk page. ed g2s • talk 13:00, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hee hee!
Oh, but sometimes they're fun. Before I was an admin (which I've been for not even two weeks), I would occasionally tag articles that said "Joe is teh smartest 14 yr old evarrr" with {{disputed}} or the like along with my db tag. Anything to keep you sane. Keep up the good work! -- Merope 15:29, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Skayde is the same as Jorge Rivera who is already listed there, so I just put it back in quotes. Jonathan Burgess 16:29, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Expected
I sort of expected this response in reference to the Cornell alma mater song. But what about Old Hokie, Brewer Fever, Fight On, Fight Raiders, Fight, Hail Purdue! about 30 more fight songs on Wikipedia? None of them will pass your notability test. WikiprojectOWU 07:04, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Joy of Satan article
Might be legit (sadly), but the reason I deleted the first version was because it was pure link spam. The second version was sheer nonsense via a sockpuppet. Wound up blocking both accounts for disrution and vandalism because of it. If someone's willing to take a whack at a legit article, I'll unblock it. Thanks for the update. :) - Lucky 6.9 02:11, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Image:Washington Monument Dusk Jan 2006.jpg
Hi Lid,
If you look at the history you'll see it's had 6 deleted edits. When I did the promoting I closed it correctly. If you are not an admin you probably can't see, but in the history I think this is where the problem is "Deletion log,
* 15:02, October 9, 2006 David Levy (Talk | contribs | block) deleted "Image:Washington Monument Dusk Jan 2006.jpg" (no longer on the main page)
" --Fir0002 21:29, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image tagging for Image:Guillotinechoke.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Guillotinechoke.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Third Opinion
It appears that admin Centrx has been going on a crusade though the Wrestling articles. Using notability as a cause for deletion. I think this borderline WP:Point as he has tried to push notability guideline before. Currently we are discussing things here DVDVR which is up for deletion once more. If you look in Centrx's edit history you will see several Wrestling articles that are put up for deletion due to notability. I just think he is really pushing the issue and woould like your opinion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NegroSuave (talk • contribs) 15:55, 8 December 2006 (UTC).
[edit] Claire Bennet's healing ability
Hi. I reverted your change to Claire's abilities in List of characters in Heroes, since Zach referred to her healing ability as "spontaneous regeneration" after reading Chandra's book, and using the show's terminology is more appropriate than using comic book terminology. In your edit summary, you wrote "it isn't spontaneous." I'm not sure why you think that. It appears to me that Claire spontaneously heals after injury rather than her making a conscious effort to heal. Primogen 06:14, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
I believe you are confusing the word "spontaneous" (definition: "arising from internal forces or causes; independent of external agencies; self-acting.") with "unconditional" or "unpreventable". That a foreign object can impede her healing ability or that her tissue can't be too far separated for the healing process to take place, does not mean that it is not spontaneous. Primogen 18:40, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Differences between the W.I.T.C.H. comic and animated series
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Differences between the W.I.T.C.H. comic and animated series, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Differences between the W.I.T.C.H. comic and animated series. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. [edit] The Reason why BooyakaDell is going through WP:AN
The Checkuser confirmed that BooyakaDell, the IP address and a third account are all combined. They could not do a CheckUser of JB196 because he edited so long ago that the IP addresses were no longer available. So it's not QUITE confirmed (although we all know it is), and Durova is just making sure all the ducks are in a row that won't give JB/Booyaka a chance to wriggle out of it later. Thanks for your help, btw SirFozzie 01:53, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Could you give me specific diffs for the move lists that JB196 and BooyakaDell tried to edit into Wikipedia's articles, along with a link to the relevant pages on the other website? Basically the only argument Booyaka has going for him is that he's gotten his information from that site. If the information isn't there and the edits are the same then he's nailed. Reply to WP:AN or my user talk page please. DurovaCharge! 04:10, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Fine. Whatever. The section needed work anyway; I simply wasn't in the mood. Still, you just tacked on your addition with no apparent attempt maintaining a flow. Yeah, file a RFCU for him. I tagged a few of the AfD's with the fact that if the user who created them is a SOCK, then they will be speedy deleted (db-ban), and the articles kept. SirFozzie 20:06, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Not all done, shockingly
Thanks for the help! :) That should be pretty close to all of them. I checked the user creation logs for everything you gave me, and everything jpgordon listed, and I think for everything I blocked. May have missed a few, but let me know if anything more crops up (or sumbit another RfCU, if needed). Cheers! Luna Santin 07:59, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Claudio.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Claudio.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I take it your still noticing the ever increasing number of Vandal/Martin181 sockpuppets... i have really tried my best to make him understand the problems with his edits esspecially the Brock Lesnar article but its like talking to a brick wall -- Paulley
[edit] Why did you remove the "Bonded by Blood (disambiguation)"?
I wasn't even finished before you jumped in (only had the new page up for 10mins). The term is not just used for a music album. There is also an advertising campaign being run by the New Zealand team All Blacks, whose website is ranked number one in search results on google for the term "Bonded by Blood" with the guild I had cited with same name, own website taking 3rd palace. --- Raogrimm2
WP:WEB and WP:Notability mean that online guilds or clans do not receive wikipedia articles, evn ones that are arguably notable such as myg0t. –– Lid(Talk) 11:14, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Did not answer my question?
What about the advertising campaign? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Raogrimm2 (talk • contribs) 11:16, 18 February 2007 (UTC). --- Raogrimm2
The advertising campaign may belong on the page for the All-Blacks but the campaign itself does not require its own article. –– Lid(Talk) 11:22, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] But what if its become a cultural phenomena?
You forget that an advertising campaign can become a cultural phenomena and deserves a spot on wikipedia such as the "I am Canadian" campaign which also has an article.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Canadian --- Raogrimm2
[edit] Even though the phenomena is debateable in your 'opinion', the posters them selves deserve an article.
Okay while I still believe that the campagin can be considered a Social Phenomena on a community level (fans). As physical item, the posters them selves deserve an article, just as much that many postage stamps recieve their own articles. For example, the boat the Bluenose must have a disambiguatiion on its article for the postage stamp. --- Raogrimm2

[edit] thanks
Thank you for your message - it is indeed satisfying. I don't mind telling you that I think the usual bias against pro-wrestling is getting in the way during FACs. I had to deal with one particular objection that had nothing to do with the article. On pure numbers, it was a narrow margin but happily Raul examined the article for himself. Cheers - if I can be of assistance in any future pro-wrestling FACs, lemme know. Rama's arrow 14:32, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ha! No bloody wonder - you ran into the toughest copyediting hounds - Sandy and Tony! My frank opinion is that a couple of hours of copyediting work should be enough for the second try to succeed. If you will allow me, I think the article will be ready for a second FAC by Monday latest. Rama's arrow 14:49, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- True - one of the factors in Montreal screwjob was its book references. It will be a challenge to find any books talking about CM Punk just yet (as he is a young wrestler). Don't worry, I'm sure we can satisfy WP:RS. Rama's arrow 14:57, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, that is a tough debate. My response to such an argument is that it is not your (or anybody else's) fault that there aren't enough sources on the topic. We are also a volunteer army, not paid researchers that we need to dig to the centre of the earth looking for "reliable" references. PWT, Wrestling Observer, etc. must be recognized as RS becoz they are the only real literature on the subject. For a bunch of my FAs, I had to scour and dig through obscure research papers on Google Scholar - a lot of painstaking, "volunteer" work. And articles like CM Punk make Wikipedia unique - Britannica wouldn't have information on virtually anything on pro-wrestling. It is important for WP to rise to the occasion. [edit] List of The Wire episodes
Hi again Lid. Noting that you edited List of The Wire episodes within the last few months I wonder if you have an opinion about the use of screenshots in this article and would welcome your opinion here if you have time.--Opark 77 22:51, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] An edit you made
On my Brimstone (wrestler) article you made several edits, one in which you said "quotes should be on wikiquote". I'm not sure as to what is meant by that, as I am still a newcomer to wiki. Also, you changed the finishing move XiBalba to a Goriconoclasm(sp?), I did look at that link, and the move is similar, but that is not the move, because he does a sit-out into a pin during the move. Due to media exposure, I believe the XiBalba was originated by him. BTW- thanks for the clean-up! —YeLLeY511 21:11, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- You have reverted my revert on the finisher, to now read as a "cross-arm iconoclasm", which is still not correct, as he sits-out with it into a seated pin, which is a move he created. I'll leave it the way it is for now, but hope to find a better way to classify it, since it is its own move.—YeLLeY511 03:29, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Please cite sources
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Bryan Danielson, but we regretfully cannot accept original research. Please find and add a reliable citation to your recent edit so we can verify your work. Uncited information may be removed at any time. Thanks for your efforts, and happy editing! Can't sleep, clown will eat me 22:49, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not entirely sure what you are asking me to cite: every single line of his career? When he used X move to win X match? I understand your concerns for original research, however, professional wrestler related articles have had discussion on this subject long and hard as most of the sources are the primary sources of the shows in which they occur. –– Lid(Talk) 02:26, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

- Hi Lid, thanks for getting back to me. To answer your question, all material on Wikipedia needs to be attributable to a reliable, published source. As of right now the stub version is semi-sourced, but I'm still not entirely sure that what we have now qualifies as a reliable publication per se. If you would like to comment, there is a WP:AN thread regarding this and similar articles. Take care, Can't sleep, clown will eat me 04:34, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
