[edit] Dead link

the site fubar has split. The one that's linked now is referred to as thatsjustnotright and doesn't have the information. It's at http://dontlinkthis.com/

dead references and links have been removed and updated.

"Libby made the vids in fall of 2000. It didn’t take long after she made them for them to start hitting the web."

So it wasn't between 1999-2001, but 2000-2001, so she was (most likely) 18 at the time.

Was Libby Hoeler underage when she made these videos? It's probably important to state that so people don't go inadvertantly downloading things are illegal. As far as I can tell, enough legitamite porn sites offer her videos along with the US disclaimer that all of their stuff features people over 18.

(forgot how to indent)She was clearly in a college dorm room in the videos. Very few people start college before they are 18.Penismightierthanthesword 23:33, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually, people generally start college in early September and people with birthdays all the way out to December 31 (not counting people who are ahead by years) will go. So I'd estimate that something like 20% of all people starting college are under 18. --Cyde Weys 17:39, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Actually it depends on the state's cutoff dates for when students start school. I'm not sure what it's like in Wisconsin but it varies from state to state. PrettyMuchBryce 07:46, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Old version

Elizabeth Margaret Hoeller (born September 18, 1982), also known as Libby Hoeller, Libby Hoeler and Libby Heller, became an Internet celebrity when her former boyfriend allegedly released several webcam videos she made for him to the Internet. Reportedly, there are ten videos in all, but most are edited versions of the five known to exist.

Before college, Hoeller attended The Divine Savior Holy Angel School, a Roman Catholic high school in Milwaukee

The videos were made between 2000 and 2001, when Hoeller was a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The videos quickly reached file sharing networks, and were widely distributed.

In the clips - which were apparently filmed in her small, cluttered dorm room - she performs numerous stripteases and masturbates with a purple dildo. A television is heard in the background on some of the videos. The soundtrack of the films is different every time. During the clips Libby dances and lip syncs to the music. Her wardrobe consists only of her underwear, a towel, or a nightie.

According to some, her boyfriend deliberately spread the videos, including Hoeller's name (misspelled, and further misspellings proliferated), address, and phone number; according to others, the release was accidental. Some claim that he was sued and subsequently convicted to a 12 month prison sentence, others state that his prison time is simply a rumor. (It should be noted that prison time is not awarded in civil suits in the United States.) As of the 28th of October, 2005, the Wisconsin Circuit Courts have no records of any legal proceedings against any E. Hoeller. Websites hosting the videos have occasionally received cease-and-desist e-mails purporting to be from Libby's aunt, attorney Mary J. Hoeller [1].

Inevitable rumors that she had committed suicide over the incident have turned out to be false. As of 2004, she is alive and well in Madison, Wisconsin and working as a buyer for a retail store.

[edit] Videos as a source

I am putting this here to discuss the source issue. The are 5 videos available on the internet. These can be located in several places including a P2P search for Libby Hoeller. So, I think we can describe the videos including what songs are being played. We cannot talk about Libby (when she goes to school, etc), because we have no basis for the information. But to throw away the only source (the videos) is unreasonable. I mean this page is actually just about the videos, not the person and I don't see this violating anything in the WP:RS I just want to get other people's opinions --vossman 14:37, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

  • We cannot describe the videos because we have no reliable source, at this point, which states that this person is actually the person in the videos. Heck, we don't even have a verifiable source which states this person exists! I have blanked the article until verifiable and reliable sources are cited. FCYTravis 07:33, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
  • My thoughts are that the person is NOT notable, but the videos are, so why don't we have a page that describes the videos and NOT the person whom we don't know. --vossman 14:17, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed version

Libby Hoeller (somtimes refered to as Elizabeth Hoeller, Libby Hoeler and Libby Heller) is the assumed name of an Internet celebrity when several webcam videos she were released to the Internet. There are five videos known to exist.

In the clips - which were apparently filmed in her small dorm room - she performs numerous stripteases and masturbates with a purple dildo. A television is heard in the background on some of the videos. The soundtrack of the films is different every time. During the clips Libby dances and lip syncs to the music. Her wardrobe consists only of her underwear, a towel, or a nightie.

According to some, her boyfriend deliberately spread the videos. Some claim that he was sued and subsequently convicted. As of the 28th of October, 2005, the Wisconsin Circuit Courts have no records of any legal proceedings against any E. Hoeller. Websites hosting the videos have occasionally received cease-and-desist e-mails purporting to be from Libby's aunt, attorney Mary J. Hoeller [2].

[edit] Baleeted

I've speedily deleted the contents of the current page per WP:BIO and WP:LIVING. If someone wants to rewrite a verifiable and reliably sourced article in that space, they're free to do so, but the contents as they stood were entirely unacceptable. FCYTravis 18:49, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

That was eventually done by someone (not me) who felt that was considreably wide of deletion policy. The Land 00:11, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sources

Please provide sources for all the statemetns mae in the article about this person, her allegedly criminal boyfriend and her allegedly maliciously litigious aunt. Half of the article as stood wasnot only unsourced but also potentially defamatory. The Land 00:13, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cut down article

Hi all. I've cut down the article to strictly information related to the videos. Libby herself is not notable, it is the videos that are the subject here. Do not add information on rumors and such unless you have a verifiable, trusted source. ~MDD4696 22:20, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

I knew them (him and her) personally and was on the boyfriends floor freshmen year. I can clean up the article if people care. It's funny how many versions of the story there are. ~Weirdo513

[edit] Move proposal

Seeing as this article is more about the videos than the person, I propose that this article be moved to a more apt title, namely Libby Hoeller videos, with Libby Hoeller as a redirect. Thoughts? -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loudWP:PORN BIO? 01:25, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] External links being used as references?

It appears that the external links are being used as references for the article. One of them even uses the "cite web" template. "External link" is not equivalent to "reference". If the external links are being used as references, it needs to be made clear that that is the case. Also, only one of the links looks like it is even remotely reliable enough to be used as a reference. If the external links are not being used as references, the article has no references. -- Kjkolb 09:43, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
