Liberty Township, Clinton County, Ohio

Liberty Township, one of thirteen townships in Clinton County, Ohio, United States, is located in the north central part of the county on the Greene County line about halfway between Wilmington and Xenia. In 2000, the population was 1,033 up from 840 in 1990. The entire township lies in the Virginia Military District and the village of Port William is located in the township. It is one of twenty-five Liberty Townships in Ohio.
It is bordered on the south by Union Township, on the west by Chester Township, on the north by the Greene County townships of Caesars Creek and Jefferson, and by Wilson Township on the east.
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
Major roads include Interstate 71, U.S. Route 68, and State Route 134.
