Liberal Collegial Group

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Liberal Collegial Group (Romanian: Gruparea Colegială Liberală or GCL) is a group in Romania that is supported by the National Liberal Party (PNL). This is somewhat a new institution in the PNL as only some territorial organizations have actual GCL activity as of 2006 (PNL Sector 2, Bucharest, PNL Iaşi, PNL Ploieşti, PNL Cluj-Napoca).

[edit] Activity

GCL usually addresses the problems of high-school teenagers in its projects, problems like violence, excessive alcohol use and others. Its members also have the possibility to get involved in politics; the majority of them take this step after a few months of membership.

[edit] Organization

One main problem of GCL is that it does not have a central bureau, and it has no effective leader; the majority of the local organizations are subordinated to the local Tineretul Naţional Liberal or TNL (National Liberal Youth) organizations. However, some steps have been taken with a view toward organizing a central permanent bureau, and the nomination of a president. One of the key leaders of this movement is the president of the GCL territorial organization in Bucharest, Sector 2, Radu Alexandru. He is trying to get the national bureau to start its activity by the end of 2007.
