Libby Holman

Libby Holman (May 23, 1906, Cincinnati, OhioJune 18, 1971,Stamford, Connecticut) was an American singer and actress.

Libby Holman was born Elizabeth Lloyd Holzman on May 23, 1904 to Alfred and Rachel Holzman in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Hughes High School on June 11, 1920 at the age of 16. Libby entered the University of Cincinnati, graduating on June 16, 1923 with a Bachelor of Arts degree,

In the summer of 1924 Libby left for New York City where she initially took up residence at the Studio Club. Libby's first theatre job in New York was in the road company of "The Fool."

Libby and Zachary Smith Reynolds, were married on November 16th 1931. Smith Reynolds was the son of R.J.Reynolds.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 6th, 1932 , Smith Reynolds was either shot or committed suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the family estate, Reynolda, in Winston, North Carolina.

Smith Reynolds died on July 6th, 1932 without regaining consciousness.
