Libair

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Libair is a fictional world in Isaac Asimov's Foundation universe, mentioned in passing the novel The Currents of Space.

Libair's inhabitants are much darker-skinned than most worlds in the galaxy.[1] They have a hazy memory of racial conflicts.[2] Dr Selim Junz - the only Libairian we see - is however sympathetic to the very light-skinned inhabitants of Florina.

  1. ^ The man was ... like all Florians, very fair of skin and light of hair... He himself came from the world of Libair, and like all Libairians, he was highly pigmented and his skin was a deep, rich brown. There were few worlds in the Galaxy in which the skin colour was so extreme as either Libair or Florina. Generally, intermediate shades were the rule. (Chapter Five)
  2. ^ Legends of a past conflict had lingered, for some reason, on the dark worlds. Libairian myths, for instance, spoke of times of war between men of different pigmentation and the founding of Libair itself was held due to a party of browns fleeing from a defeat in battle.(Chapter Five)
