[edit] Music Video
The video for the song starts with Adam Lazzara sitting in a chair with a lie detector attached to his fingers. The lines scribble furiously, indicating he is lying, and as the song starts it shows the forms of the band on the paper singing. The video shows a woman climb into a safe then and the band raising their glasses in toast as a plane flies above. It continues until near the end in which the characters are standing on a spider web while a spider drags Adam toward the detector and he is erased. Then the image of the woman is seen squishing the spider. The video ends with Adam shown to be in a room where he's being questioned. The interrogators in the next room are the other band members. Adam states "That's exactly what happened." Matt Rubano asks, "What do you think?" Fred Mascherino responds, "I don't believe a word of it."
The song refers to the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding. The reference is made when Adam say's "We're just choirboys at best, intrusive and arrogant". This is referring to Jack and the choirboys, who intrude on the island and cause chaos and disregard the attempted help from Ralph. It's also refers to the book with the line, "Then back on that island that you swear by....It's still a question of how long will this hold." This is referring to the island that the boys are stranded on, and how long will it take for the chaos to appear.
