Li Huasheng

Li Huasheng (1944 - ) is a Chinese artist from Chongqing in Sichuan province. From 1954-1976, he studied traditional Chinese painting under Chen Zizhuang. He received the Outstanding Artwork Award in Sichuan province in 1981. He participated in the "Exhibition of Chinese Modern Calligraphy and Painting" held in Singapore, and the "Landscape Painting" exhibition held in Beijing.
Li's formal education was at the Yangtze River Shipping Administration's Shipping School, in Chongqing where, in 1967, he stayed on to work as a woodblock propaganda artist for the Shipping Administration. Li studied guohua with private teachers at the Chongqing North Bank Culture Center, from 1959 to 1970, and is better known internationally for his paintings than for his prints. In 1985 he was elected an honorary member of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts.
