Li Fuguo

Li Fuguo (; 704-762) was a eunuch official during the reign of Emperor Suzong of Tang Dynasty. He supported Suzong as emperor to replace Emperor Xuanzong, since then eunuchs had the power of appointed or dismissed an emperor (until 981). As Suzong thought he had distinctive merits, Suzong appointed him as a high rank official in the Military Department (元帥府司馬). After he went back to Chang'an, he became the Chief General of the Military Department (禁軍大元帥). After he rose to power, he suppressed Xuanzong and Gao Lishi. In 762, he and another eunuch official, Cheng Yuanzheng (程元振), murdered the wife of Suzong, Empress Zhang. Shortly after that, Suzong died of a sudden heart attack.

After Emperor Daizong ascended the throne in 762 AD, Li tried to hold on to power and called on Daizong to stay in the palace while he himself would attend to the administration. Li had miscalculated Daizong's resolve and Li was assassinated by Daizong in a palace intrigue.
