Lexington High School is a public high school located in Lexington, South Carolina. It has grades 9-12. The school's mascot is the Wildcat. It is one of four high schools in Lexington School District One. The primary athletic rivals of Lexington are Irmo High School in Irmo, SC and White Knoll High School, a school that was opened to relieve overcrowding at Lexington in the late 1990s/early 2000s.
Lexington is well known for its marching band (Directed by Dr. Jerry Gatch) (1987 4A state champions; 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993 5A state champions; 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 5A 2nd place; 2005 5A 3rd place) and which has participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Tournament of Rose's Parade in Pasadena, California. Recently the band traveled to Hawaii and performed on the dock of the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor. Lexington also performs well in athletics, having won state championships in baseball, men's basketball, men's and women's golf, softball, and men's tennis in the recent past [2].
