Lexington High School is a public high school located in Lexington, Massachusetts. It has grades 9-12. The school's mascot is the Minuteman.

  • Lexington High School has a Student/Faculty Senate that allows students to have power in what policies are implemented in the school. The Senate also has five seats open for students to represent under-represented groups.
  • The school's math team is widely regarded as the best math team from a public high school in the nation. For example, there were an incredible five USAMO qualifiers in 2000, 2001, and 2002, four in 2003, and seven in 2006.[1]
  • The cross-country team was undefeated 2000–2006.
  • Recently rated the 304th best high school in the country by Newsweek.
  • Renowned for its music program, which includes various a capella groups, an award-winning wind ensemble, symphonic band, and jazz ensemble, along with two orchestras and three choir groups.
  • In 2005 Fred Phelps, of Topeka, Kansas and his church protested the Lexington High School graduation because of the school's support of its gay-straight alliance.
  • Lexington High School's policy debate team has won the State Championship for the last 30 years. In 2006, Stanislav Moroz and Naomi Logan won the State Championship for the thirtieth consecutive time.[citation needed]
  • Lexington High School's National Ocean Sciences Bowl team won the National competition for the first five years of its existence from 1998 to 2002.
  • The Lexington Soccer team is one of the best in Massachusetts. Their freshman team was undefeated for seven years straight and their Junior Varsity and Varsity produce outstanding players including the 2006 Middlesex League MVP.
  • The Lexington High School Boys swim team has won the Middlesex league Championship for 9 years in a row and many more league championships making it the second most successful Lexington High school sports team.
  • The LHS Boys Indoor Track team won the Massachusetts Division I State Championships in 2006 and repeated in 2007

There were also two protesters outside the school on the Day of Silence in 2005 who were never identified.

Several students counter-protested silently until the adult protesters left. Besides the protesters outside the school, the day also encountered opposition within the student population. Stickers saying, "The way it's meant to be," and featuring images of a man and a woman holding hands were distributed by the mother of a freshman student. Approximately a dozen students wore the protest stickers. The opposition was unexpected because in previous years there had been little to no public opposition to the day at Lexington High School. The Day of Silence on April 24, 2006 went off without any protesters against it or the gay-straight alliance. At least three police officers were stationed on the school quad for the Day of silence.
