McMahon started his career with Sheffield Wednesday. McMahon was released by Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the 2004/05 season.[2]

McMahon was signed by Notts County on a one-year deal in July 2005 following his release by Sheffield Wednesday.[2] McMahon left Notts County at the end of the 2005/06 season.[3]
