Lewis Andreas

Lewis Andreas was the head coach of the Syracuse men's basketball team from 1924-1950. Andreas is the second most winningest coach in Syracuse history, compiling a record of 358 wins along with 135 losses, and an overall winning percentage of .719. Andreas 1925-26 team, led by star player Vic Hanson, compiled a record of 19-1, and was selected as the 1925-1926 Helms Foundation Champion, the highest honor of the day. Andreas led Syracuse to the program's first two NIT appearances in 1945-46 and 1949-50. The 1945-46 team,led by Billy Gabor, went 23-4 before losing to Muhlenberg in first round of the NIT. The 1949-50 team, led by Jack Kiley, went 18-9 and beat Long Island in the first round of the NIT before falling to Bradley in the second round. Andreas left the program after the 1949-50 season.
