Leurbost

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leurbost (Gaelic: Liurbost) is a village on the east coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. It is approximately 6 miles south of Stornoway on the road to Harris. It is the main settlement in the area of the island known as North Lochs. Amenities in the village include a recently-built school and community centre, Sgoil nan Loch, which replaced the old Leurbost school and others in Pairc and Balallan, a petrol station and a shop. The school caters for children from nursery age through primary 1-7 and up to secondary 2, after which they normally move to schools in Stornoway.
