My recollection of reading Kay the Left-handed (Heinemann 1935, 284 p) some forty years ago is that it was much less distinguished than the Neustrian trilogy. It takes place during the Wars of the Roses. Kay is the only one of Barringer's protagonists to be of lowly rather than aristocratic background. The plot of The Rose in Splendour (Phoenix House 1953 160 p), held by the Barton Library in London, sounds similar. Was Kay rewritten or republished as The Rose in Splendour in 1953? Copies of all of Barringer's books are held in the British Library in London. Maybe a London Wikipedian can clarify. Xxanthippe 01:24, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
