Les Menuires is a resort in the 3V which is still populated mostly by the French. It is very apparent when skiing over into other resorts that the 3V clientel change from one resort to the next. To give you some idea of how important it is to the French, in the VVF (Village Vacance France) 2006/2007 ski season brochure Les Menuires was the first resort entered. VVF are the French equivalent of the english travel comapny Thomas Cook. Unlike some of the other resorts in the 3V, nearly all of the property in Les Menuires is self catering apartments which attract familys. Hence you will also find an abondonce of little people, who are in the most part extreamly competent skiiers. Because of the family accomidation, in the evening this resort is quieter than its nehbours Val Thorens (which is mainly single Dutch and English) and Meribel (which is mainly English and American). Competent skiers who wish to cover some distance from Les Menuires can be in Courchevel in only 1.5 hours. Courchevel offers possibly the most spectacular scienary with some super wide open pistes and excellent grooming. It is the most expensive place to stay through-out the valleys. The wealthy are often seen driving Hummvee's and consuming conspicously. If you wish to pay 3000 euro for ski's and 10 euro for a can of coke (no joke), stay in Courchevel. And if you really want to have a laugh check out the Immobiliers (estate agents) in Courchevel 1850.
