Les Baguettes Imperiales

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Les Baguettes Imperiales is an upscale Michelin-starred Vietnamese restaurant located in Brussels (Belgium), whose specialities include stuffed pigeon and foie gras.

The restaurant is owned by M. Ma Lai Thi Bang Tam and Mr. Ma Huu Duy and is the pioneer[citation needed] of the Vietnamese cuisine in Belgium. In 1974, they have been, for example, the first institution to introduce exotic fruits at the restaurant (lychees, durion, etc... which were at that time not available on the Belgian market).

From 1985 to 2004, they became the first and only Asian restaurant in Europe to be awarded one star from the Michelin Guide. They became the reference in Europe[citation needed] in regards to Vietnamese cuisine by offering a menu which combined traditional Vietnamese dishes but also unique and innovative creations while using the best ingredients available on the market: Tourteau (Zool Crab), foie gras, coucou de Malines (zool cuckoo of Malines), canette de Barbarie (zool duckling of Barbarie), lobster, etc.
