I was so impressed after reading Leonard Birchall's obituary that I went to the library and borrowed the book "Hell On Earth, Aging faster, dying sooner"; Canadian Prisoners of the Japanese during WWII, by David Mcintosh. Its a fascinating book about what it was really like for those men.
