From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Leopold Museum, housed in the Museumsquartier in Vienna, Austria, is home to one of the largest collections of modern Austrian art, featuring artists such as Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka and Richard Gerstl.
The collection, which comprises over 5,000 artworks, was compiled by Rudolf and Elisabeth Leopold over several decades before it was transferred to the private Leopold Foundation with the aid of the federal government and the Austrian National Bank. The museum opened to the public in 2001.
