Leonard Boyarsky

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leonard Boyarsky is an American computer game designer and visual artist. He is well known as one of the three major creators of Interplay's classic computer role-playing game Fallout, on which he worked as art director, lead artist, designer and writer. He also contributed to its sequel, Fallout 2, until leaving Interplay with Tim Cain and Jason D. Anderson, Fallout's other major creators, to start the aptly-named company Troika Games. When later asked why he left Interplay, Boyarsky commented that

Interplay had been a great place to work, and we felt that it was losing a lot of what we felt was great about it, and that they were making a lot of bad decisions that would destroy the company. We were about five or six years early on that, but we saw the writing on the wall. If Baldur's Gate hadn't hit big, Interplay might well have imploded much earlier, but we left about a year before BG was even released. [1]

At Troika, Boyarsky designed Arcanum and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Troika closed down in early 2005 due to financial trouble.

Boyarsky's artwork and design have had a lasting influence on aspiring and amateur game designers and numerous independent projects.[citation needed]

Boyarsky claims to still work in the game industry, but wouldn't say where on record [2].
