Lena Taylor

Lena Taylor (born July 25, 1966) is an American politician and a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, representing Wisconsin's fourth Senate district. She is a member of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

Taylor was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from Rufus King High School in 1984. She received a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1990 and a law degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1993. Before running for office, she was a practicing attorney and public defender. Taylor has one child.

Taylor was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in a special election in 2003 and then was elected to the state senate in 2004.

After the Democrats reclaimed the State Senate in November 2006, Taylor was named the Chair of the Committee on Judiciary and Corrections. She will also serve on the Joint Committee on Finance for the 2007-2009 Budget.
