Lemaître

Lemaître is a French family name meaning the teacher or the master — derived from the Latin word magister.
- Frédérick Lemaitre, (July 28, 1800 - January 26, 1876) was a French actor and playwright.
- Father Georges-Henri Lemaître (July 17, 1894 – June 20, 1966) was a Belgian Roman Catholic priest and astronomer, famous for first proposing the Big Bang theory.
- François Elie Jules Lemaître (April 27, 1853 - August 4, 1914), was a French critic and dramatist.
- Jean Lemaître was a Belgian mechanical engineer, who developed a steam locomotive exhaust.
- Rafael Lemaître is a French carcinologist.
