Talk:Leighton Buzzard

[edit] River Ouzel or Lovat
Previously the article said "River Ouzel (known locally as the River Lovat)". I have looked at information such as Ordnance Survey maps, books on the natural history of Bedfordshire, Google, and a Tourist Information leaflet on Leighton-Linslade, all of which just say "River Ouzel". It seems that the name Lovat is now only used at Newport Pagnell. JonH 12:47, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Leighton Buzzard meaning Leighton-Linslade
The town council uses "Leighton-Linslade" to refer to the combination of the two towns. But I think other people are not so careful, and I have changed the first paragraph accordingly. Note that before I changed the article, its descriptions of population, railway, canal, and the Linslade Singers all applied partly to Linslade.
However, I live in Dunstable, and residents of Leighton-Linslade may have other opinions! JonH 13:00, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- You're right. "Leighton-Linslade" is never used by locals, only by the council. People use "Leighton Buzzard" to refer to the combined town. Mister Ant 08:02, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Vanity listing
Who is Tavis Prewett that has been added by a non logined user? Deben Dave 21:46, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- If he is not notable enough to have his own article, he shouldn't be listed. Reverted. --Concrete Cowboy 00:34, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
