Leikanger is a municipality in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. The county administration of Sogn og Fjordane is located in Leikanger.

The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old farm Leikanger (Norse Leikvangir), since the first church was built there. The first element is leikr m 'sports, athletics, the last element is the plural form of vangr m 'meadow'.
Until 1889 the name was written Lekanger.
