Leigh Colbert (born June 7, 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League.
He made his debut with Geelong in 1993 and became a fearless player, usually playing off half-back, but then found his way as a key position player.
He was awarded Geelong's captaincy in 1999, but did not play a game that season due to injury. The falling out between the club and Colbert caused great controversy. Many Geelong supporters still harbour deep resent against Colbert for abandoning the club whilst in the role of captain.
In 2000 Colbert moved to the Kangaroos where he became a tough fearless player, mostly holding up full-back or centre half-back.
In 2005 at only 30 years of age, Colbert announced his retirement. The continual punishment of AFL football apparently left Colbert with the body of a 35-year-old, according to some doctors.
