Lei is the pinyin of a Chinese surname. The most common character is 雷 (Léi), meaning "Thunder". 雷 (Léi) is the 78th most common Chinese surname as of 2006 according to a study carried out by the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Typically used for naming male children.
The character 雷 (Léi) is structured with the the rain radical (雨 yǔ) on top and the character for fields (田 tián)on the bottom.
