Muhammad: Legacy of the Prophet is a PBS documentary film about the life of Muhammad.

Muhammad was originally broadcast nationwide on December 18, 2002 on PBS and has since been rebroadcast on well over 600 individual PBS stations. The U.S. viewership is estimated to be over 10 million. The documentary received worldwide broadcast in many languages on National Geographic International in December 2003 and many other countries.

Over 100 major newspapers including the New York Times, The Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, Reuters, and the Catholic News Service reviewed the film. PBS also received over 5,000 emails in the first two weeks after broadcast responding to the film.

Muhammad also included an educational outreach element to the film that was launched through IslamProject.org. The Islam Project's centerpiece were 30 community dialogues featuring civic leaders in major cities. In addition, the project also offered a dozen free lesson plans for teachers and students interested in educating themselves on Islam.
