Legio XVI Flavia Firma

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Legio XVI Flavia Firma (firm Flavian legion) was a Roman legion. The legion was created by Emperor Vespasian in 70, with the remains of the XVI Gallica (which had surrendered in the Batavian rebellion), and still existed in the 4th century, when it guarded the Euphrates border camped in Sura (Syria). The emblem of the legion was a lion.
