[edit] Biography
Legend Maker is formed due to a process of evolution that began about 10 years ago. Many members many names dozens of songs and many hours of rehearsal molded what today is one of the most important phenomena in Colombian Power metal.
Under the mane of "Mester de Juglaria", the band records their first demo called “Story”. The four songs were produced and mixed in Infinity studios in Bogotá on February in 1997. Although this demo was not commercialized, many copies were sent to different record labels outside our country, receiving great reviews from world magazines.
The record label SENTINEL STEEL from New Jersey got interested in the band’s material and a first contract is signed for the production of a first mini album. This contract was modified for the label’s interests and a whole album is produced. As a requirement, the band had to change the name and translate them from Spanish to English in order to be sold in the international market.
Thus LEGEND MAKER is born. Six songs were chosen for a first album titled “THE PATH TO GLORY” which was released in the American, European and Japanese market in the mid of 99.
As the band couldn't get a high standard in vocal performance at that time, Californian singer Michael Grant (Onward), lent his voice for the album.
After a couple of months, LM found the outstanding front man that they were looking for: Diego Gomez gave the compliment to the band and record originally the three last songs of the album, but Grant was already involved in the project, so he re recorded vocals and did all the needed arrangements, putting a lot of effort and enthusiasm in the album.
LEGEND MAKER is a fine example of what is known as an organization without frontiers because the band is in Cali, Colombia, the album was mixed in New York, produced and printed in New Jersey, the vocals were recorded in Los Angeles and the bands focuses their promotion in Europe an Japan.
The Path to Glory album was reviewed by many magazines in the word, achieving high scores and positive commentaries from the critic in countries like Greece, Germany, France, Sweden, Italy, Japan, Spain, Russia, Norway, Holland, Brazil and more. Even one the songs "story" was chosen in the top ten of the Decade in a Japanese Magazine.
Mean While the band kept evolving, preparing the songs for a new album. Many members were changed during this time, in order to build an excellent line up. The philosophy of the band changed from their beginnings where fantasy and magic realms were the topics. Now the band searches to engrave with complex melodies, a deep vision of our reality and human conditions throughout analogies trying to offer to whoever listens to this music a new concept of this world we live in and how our actions are ruining our surrounding.
The music is also filled with fast melodic riffs, complex harmonies, where the virtuosity of the musicians blooms to entertain their fans with songs influenced by neoclassical music, jazz and progressive rock. Guitar solos and harmonized keys, discharges of double bass and the infinite power of the vocals complete this symphony called Legend Maker.
The band’s future assures lots of success. The band just released their second album “LIES BLEEDING THE BLIND”. This ten-track album explores new musical territories, exposing more eclectic and mature compositions, drawing out of the music stile, offering a richer and unexplored universe.
The album was totally recorded and produced this time by the band in Colombia. They wanted to keep the originality untouched by any producer or label. Folkloric instruments from the Andes were included this time, like Quenas (Bamboo flutes), and minor percussion (bongos). The songs jump from a classical movement to death metal, then to a jazz mood, mean while the vocals reach the highest peaks and then fall to guttural passages.
LIES BLEEDING THE BLIND was released in January 2003 and is expected to overpass the success of the first album. World distribution is assured by Sentinel Steel again and most of the important distributor and stores in Europe and Asia are selling the album.
