From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Legal Services Society (LSS) is the legal aid provider in British Columbia, Canada. Its mission is to help low-income people solve their legal problems by providing a spectrum of services that promotes their effective participation in the justice system.
Services are available for family, civil, and criminal law matters and include legal information, advice, or representation, depending on the client’s legal problem. Each year, the society helps tens of thousands of low-income people solve their legal problems so they can move on with their lives.
LSS is a non-profit organization governed by a nine-member board of directors. While the provincial government is its primary funder, the society remains independent of government. It also receives funding from other sources, including the Law Foundation of British Columbia and the Notary Foundation of British Columbia.
