Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors is a turn-based fighting game for Game Boy Color, played with the use of in game cards for attacks, techniques and support items. The game’s story takes place from the start of the Dragon Ball Z anime show and runs right through until the end of the Buu Saga, The game boasts a large array of characters featuring all of the Ginyu Force, Super Saiyan 1-3 Goku forms as well as fusion characters Vegetto and Gotenks.

Once the game has been completed, the player is free to replay the story mode or battle modes the game with the freedom to use any characters and forms they choose in any of the given battles, e.g Super Saiyan 3 Goku v.s Frieza, or Guldo v.s Evil King Piccolo. Also, two extra stories involoving future Trunks can be opened to gain a few extra cards.

There are also three extra slots. They appear in slots 28, 29, and 30. [edit] Fan Reaction

The game has a very large fan base for sprite work because the 8-bit sprites are so easy to edit and recolour allowing improved graphics or brand new sprites all together e.g Broly, Burdock, Coola, making these sprites ideal for simple fan comics, animations or games.

The game has some additional sprites in its memory banks that aren't used at all in the game. These include; Cell sprite performing Spirit Bomb, a crudely drawn Krillin, Burters Ginyu Pose (unused since he doesn't have a unique beam attack) and many more.
