Left Book Club Online

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Left Book Club Online is a website set up in 2006, serving as a place for left-wing ideas and information about left-wing literature to be shared and discussed. The name comes from the 'Left Book Club' of the 1930s and 1940s, run by Victor Gollancz. Although the two share a name, the Left Book Club Online operates in a different manner to the original Left Book Club; rather than publishing books, it provides information about books and acts as a source for debate and discussion. The project was launched by Labour MP and British Government Minister Ed Miliband at the Labour party conference, 2006.

The focus of the website will be left-wing literature - at the time of writing there is one feature up. It is a page with information about Antony Crosland's 'The Future of Socialism', with a space for users to contribute towards the feature and add their views and comments.

The website is still in its infancy and is being constantly developed, and has a 'page' for users to add their wants and ideas about what the site should become.
