Le Temps is one of Switzerland's leading daily newspapers. The French language newspaper is published in Geneva and has editorial offices in Geneva, Lausanne, Berne and Zurich. The paper in midi format has a circulation of 50,000 and a readership of 142,000, including 14,000 in German-speaking Switzerland.

The first edition was published on 18 March 1998, following the merger of Journal de Genève-Gazette de Lausanne with Edipresse's Le Nouveau Quotidien.

The newspaper's publisher, "Le Temps SA" is held by "ER Publishing" at 82%, that in turn is owned by Edipresse Group at 50% and Ringier Group at 50%. The remaining 18% are held by: Le Monde (5%), Claude Demole (7%) and the staff of the newspaper (6%). One of its features is the cartoonist Chappatte.
