Le Téléjournal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Le Téléjournal is Radio-Canada's evening television newscast, originating from Montreal, Quebec.

The newscast is anchored by Bernard Derome, who anchored the program from 1970 to 1998, when he was replaced by Stéphan Bureau.

Bureau anchored the program from 1998 until 2003, when he was replaced by Gilles Gougeon.

Derome was brought back as anchor in 2004 in an effort to return the program to its earlier success. It is anchored Friday to Sunday by Céline Galipeau.

Le Téléjournal is the equivalent of the English CBC's The National.

Local newscasts on Radio-Canada stations are also now branded as Le Téléjournal followed by the name of the city or region, e.g. Le Téléjournal Montréal on CBFT in Montreal. Originally, until the early-2000s, local newscasts were separately-branded as Ce Soir (This Evening).
