Le Canal Nouvelles (LCN) is a Canadian French language cable television 24 hour headline news specialty channel owned by Groupe TVA, and broadcasting from its headquarters in Montréal, Québec, Canada.
LCN's format is to broadcast four 15-minute news segments per hour with headlines scrolling at the bottom of the screen.
LCN was launched on September 8, 1997 as a response to Radio-Canada's RDI.
Quebecor also owns the TVA network. Many news reports shown on TVA are also shown on LCN. LCN is also simulcast for several hours overnight on TVA, with the TVA logo superimposed over the LCN logo.
Current anchors of LCN includes Julie Couture, Karine Champagne, Esther Bégin, Véronyque Tremblay, Sylvain Drapeau, Pierre Cantin, Chantal Leblond and Guy Bolduc.
Denis Lévesque, lured away from Télévision Quatre-Saisons in 2005, is exceptionnaly hosting is own public affairs progrmam in the evening. The show, named after him, is outside of the regular LCN format.
NOTE: LCN should not be typographically confused with the European network LCI "La Chaîne Info" that originates in Paris, France.
