[edit] A word from the guy himself...
Hello there, I'm LBM. I'm from Leeds, West Yorkshire, in the UK. I joined Wikipedia on December 14, 2005, because a small amount of articles were... disappointing, to say the least. Since I joined I have contributed to articles such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo (I'm quite a big follower of the group; you can tell by my username), Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens as well as bigger articles like Coronation Street, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Judy Garland. I also started the page on the MGM mascot, Leo the Lion. The Ladysmith Black Mambazo article has now become a Good article, something that I helped it become.
Here are my contributions in more detail; I contributed all of the discography section on the Ladysmith Black Mambazo article (though Sidp reorganised and rearranged it to look more presentable), I also created articles for all members of the group (most notably Joseph Shabalala, lead singer/founder and his late brother Jockey) and I helped with the Mahotella Queens article (such as the membership and some of the history with Mahlathini) and re-arranged it, as well as re-arranging the Mahlathini article; I've also created Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens, the well known supergroup which became as famous as Mambazo.
I hope to continue adding and helping with information on Wikipedia for quite some time - I am finding it very interesting and addictive!

[edit] Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Ladysmith Black Mambazo is the famed South African "isicathamiya" chorus that shot to stardom on Paul Simon's Graceland album in 1986. Mambazo was founded by 19-year old Joseph Shabalala in the winter of 1960, and today, the 65-year old grandfather is still leading the group with his "golden voice". Aside from Graceland, the group became very famous in Britain for singing an abridged version of their song "Inkanyezi Nezazi" (The Star and the Wiseman) on a series of advertisements for Heinz Soup. The subsequent album release, The Best of Ladysmith Black Mambazo/The Star and the Wiseman, sold over 1 000 000 copies in the UK alone. I have met the band several times over the years and have been a fan since I was 6 years old, back in 1998. I have written several articles for my school on various subjects (which have been published in the local newspapers) and I hope to complete a book on Ladysmith Black Mambazo in the next year or so.
[edit] Mahotella Queens
Mahotella Queens are the three Queens of "mbaqanga" music, and undoubtedly the grand dames of South African music. Formed as a group of ten young women in 1964, the three ladies (Lead singer Hilda Tloubatla - 64 years old, Nobesuthu Mbadu - 61 years old, Mildred Mangxola - 62 years old) have been singing since they were small girls at their respective schools and became famous in the West with their songs and albums "Kazet", "Thokozile" and "Mbaqanga". The Queens were a part of Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens, a group comprised of the three ladies, the no-nonsense backing band Makgona Tsohle Band and the late Simon "Mahlathini" Nkabinde, South Africa's "king of the groaners". I have also met up with the Queens on occasion and hope to write articles and, eventually, a book about them.
For a more thorough list of my contributions, see here.
