Lazy Days (RV dealer)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
RVLiving is a recreational vehicle (RV) lifestyle magazine published six times a year by Rodale Press Custom Publishing. It is published for Lazydays (the nation's largest RV retailer) and distributed to Lazydays customers, Rodale customers who own an RV, and other RV enthusiasts throughout the United States. The premiere issue was published in May/June of 2005 and the magazine currently enjoys a circulation of approximately 150,000.
According to a 2001 University of Michigan study commissioned by the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), RV ownership has reached record levels in the United States. Trailer Life and MotorHome Magazine are a few notable competitors.
RVLiving's small but dedicated staff has worked hard to separate RVLiving from the rest of the pack with a commitment to a fresh and hip take on the RV lifestyle. For example, each issue features a lavish interior photo shoot highlighting a new RV on the market, as well as product and gadget pages that spotlight handy and quirky new items perfect for RVers. The magazine prides itself on stylish photography and design; the premiere issue won the Silver Award for Best Overall Design at the 2005 Pearl Awards (affectionately known as "the Oscars of custom publishing").
Despite winning twelve 2006 Magnum Opus custom publishing awards, RVLiving was was discontinued in September 2006. Reaction was bittersweet, and the staff splintered, with most moving on to other magazine publishing roles. Even though the magazine lasted but a brief time (just over a year), it will live on forever in the memory of the staff that worked so diligently to make it the best RV lifestyle magazine on the market ... nay, in history – and in the hundreds of thousands of readers who loved it.
